NYC Annual Boiler Inspection

Local Law 62 of 1991

If you are the owner of a commercial building, mixed use, or a private house six-family or greater, in New York's 5 boros, then your low pressure boiler must be inspected annually. The inspection must be filed no later than Dec. 31 of that year. The building owner is responsible to ensure that this is done, or is subject to fines up to $1500. This is a requirement regardless if you use gas heat or oil heat. The utility is not licensed to perform this!

At Consumers Energy Group Inc., we are licensed to perform this service. After we inspect your equipment, we electronically file the report with the Department Of Buildings via electronic data transfer. This ensures that the filing is expedited, and eliminates data entry errors.

If you wish us to file a Low-Pressure Boiler Inspection, please follow the following steps:

1. Send a separate check for $155.00 per location payable to Consumers Energy Group Inc. We will in turn pay the filing fee. Include your account number on the check, and indicate that it is for Annual Boiler Inspection.

2. Enclose a note authorizing us to file the inspection on your behalf, and which address you wish us to inspect. Please include the Block/Lot number. Some of our customers have multiple properties, and we need to know which one you want inspected.

We will then perform the inspection and filing automatically each year until you request us to stop.

We will also stop filing if you close your oil account with us.

Due to time constraints, we cannot accept requests for inspection after December 15. If you find yourself in a last minute situation, please call our office for further guidance.

We will not be responsible for penalties or violations incurred from the Department of Buildings if you do not follow the above procedure.

When we receive your payment and file the inspection, you will receive a confirmation letter from us. Should you receive any violations from the Department of Buildings regarding the LL-62/91 Low-Pressure inspection, we will clear the violation for you.
